John has practiced law since 1993 when he graduated from Albany Law School. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in New York. Within four years, he rose through the ranks to become the Chief of Narcotics. In February of 1998, Lovell fulfilled a career goal (and an opportunity to move to his favorite part of the country) and accepted a job as a Senior ADA in Atlanta, Georgia.
In January 2000, John accepted a unique opportunity to prosecute major narcotics cases for the Atlanta High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA). To serve in this position, Mr. Lovell was sworn as both an Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant United States Attorney. This enabled Mr. Lovell to prosecute cases in all Georgia Counties and all federal courts in the Northern District of Georgia.
In July 2006, John Lovell opened his own practice. Drawing on his extensive experience in criminal law, John has focused on criminal defense. John has found his passion in representing individuals. He is able to communicate well with and connect with his clients. John has genuine empathy and understands that humans are fallible, make mistakes, and deserve a second chance. He also understands that investigators make mistakes and charge the wrong person or over-charge a crime.
